Fourth Meal Relief at Farmers Union
When we started our Masks for Meals movement, our goals were to support local restaurants by purchasing meals for folks in industries negatively impacted by the unexpected pandemic…and we were gonna do it all by selling masks. We figured that if people were going to be required to wear masks, we’d sell masks cheap, and use the profits to buy meals for folks in our community, from locally owned businesses in our community. And little by little we’re achieving our goals.
In late March 2021 our county moved into a less restrictive tier, allowing restaurants to reopen for larger indoor dining capacities. And as this is a great sign for local businesses, staff and guests are still required to wear masks when indoors and when deemed appropriate. And since mask requirements aren’t going anywhere soon, we forged marvelous deal with our local printer, and began selling branded masks in bulk to businesses at a ridiculously low price.
With the addition of selling shirts, bulk orders and receiving more generous donations, we achieved our 4th profit goal and randomly selected The Farmers Union for another meal relief program. With the money raised, we were able to purchase 30-meals from The Farmers Union which folks signed-up for and enjoyed between March 29th – April 3rd….and with the continued support, the giving continues!
